Spring is a beautiful time of the year. Flowers are blooming, trees are starting to get green, and you can still feel that nice chill in the morning air. Lacing up your running shoes in the morning fills you with excitement, as you know those first few minutes will be a bit chilly, before the morning sun heats everything up. For this very reason, spring time races are a perfect time to get that PR that you have been training for all winter. With the weather like that, this would have been a pretty boring story. Mother nature had something else in mind for May in Philadelphia. Going from heat and warm gear directly to July like temperatures and humidity was the prescribed cocktail for this month.

Phunt You
Last January I sat at my computer in my warm house watching pictures come in from many friends running an epic race taking place in 6 inches of fresh snow, sub-zero temperatures just over the border in Maryland. Of course right away I had two thoughts. Why didn't I know about this race? I want to do it next year. Welcome to Phunt 50K 2015!

Tour de Philadelphia - Rocky Run Part Deux
If you really want to see a city, any city, you got to run through it. Running through city streets allows you to get up close and personal with neighbors, neighborhoods, and architecture. Sadly, not many places offer something like this, but here in Philadelphia, we are blessed. Thanks to a fictional boxer from South Philly, we now have an opportunity to see all the good, but also all the bad that Philadelphia has to offer. Enter Rocky 50k Fat Ass Run.

Philadelphia Marathon 2014 - Back With The Vengeance
I have been unlucky when it comes to road marathons. While I have excelled at other distances this particular one was my arch nemesis. After several bad road marathons last year, I've decided to make the 2014 Philadelphia Marathon my only real road effort this year (double marathon in Roanoke doesn't count). I wanted to be injury free, and ready to finally break 4 hours that has been haunting me from my very first marathon. I was back with the vengeance.

Cruising On Dry Land - Blues Cruise 50K
I zip up my jacket as I get into the car on this brisk Sunday morning. Temperatures are in the 40s which is the lowest its been in a while. The heat is necessary to get my body warmed up and to clear up the windows. I double-check that I have all my gear ready. Quick Dunkin Donuts stop for some pre-race fuel and I am off toward Reading for the 2014 edition of Blues Cruise 50K.
