What a Year - 2014 in Review

What a year! 2014 is in the books. It has been a year of many firsts...

The year started off with a bang with my acceptance as an Altra Ambassador for 2014. What a great honor, and it has been a blast. I've enjoyed making new connections across the county and spreading the good word of Altra. I also added couple more ambassadorships later in the year which have been excellent, Cocogo and Bioskin.

The Hat 50K
I didn't run my first race, The Hat 50K, until March, which was a good thing considering the terrible winter we had, and limited outdoor training I could muster. In April, Amy and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary by traveling to Roanoke for a double Blue Ridge Marathon. Crossing the finish line holding hands, after running the longest distance to date was unforgettable. We love Roanoke so much that we will be back in 2015.
Blue Ridge Double
May took us to California and Born to Run 100K. It was our anniversary present to each other. There is no better way of celebrating your marriage than running 100K followed by a week in a campervan visiting national parks! We need to go out west again soon! Beautiful.

Summer was pretty slow as far as the racing and blogging goes, but none the less, I was out there training hard for all the fall racing to come, along with beach bumming.
Summer Training
What a fall it was. It started off with a trail half-marathon PR at Sloopy Cuckoo, followed by my 50K PR at the Blues Cruise. I didn't stop there and in October I got my 5K, 10K and Half-marathon PRs at the Runner's World Half Festival.

Runner's World
Year wouldn't be complete without my lonely road marathon. I finally broke 4 hours and got my marathon PR at the Philadelphia Marathon. It has long eluded me, and I was beyond excited to finally get there. All that summer training paid off!

Philly Marathon
To finish the year, Amy and I ran now annual Rocky 50K through the city of Philadelphia. It was a nice cap to the year.

The fun does not stop with the end of 2014. It continues early in 2015 with the Phunt 50K. I am looking forward to racing in the US and abroad again in 2015, as well as other prospects that running is bringing into my life.

Thank you for following and reading this blog through the year. There is a lot more to come.

  1. Running really need a lot of stamina and strength. You have to maintain your steady state for the long run. You can use few accessories to make better adjustment with shoe accessories, sock aid and different other supportive aids.
